Q. Why not allow well known HIV/AIDS agencies
to receive funds?
A. Many smaller agencies struggle to keep vital programs
alive that serve underserved communities or critical
service programs. Smaller agencies are more nimble
and can quickly respond to service needs within their
community without being mired in policy and procedures
while failing to meet the immediate needs of the
communities they serve.
Q. Why only the agencies listed are receiving
funds?
A. Each of the listed agencies have been vetted by
the Beneficiary Committee to ensure that these agencies
serve the interest of the community they serve.
The committee reviews each agency based on a matrix
using a 100 point system. Regardless of size, each
agency is review on its own merits to deliver HIV/AIDS
services.
Q. I have a favorite HIV/AIDS agency often overlooked by
funders. How do I get them funded?
A. This is
a community based fundraising program. Therefore,
participating clubs can suggest agencies they would
like to see funded provided these agencies meet the
requirements. Additionally, the public can make us
aware of their favorite charities to consider by sending
an email with the name of the agency, the name and phone
number of the Executive Director and the agency's
address.
The Beneficiary Committee is also charged with
conducting an audit of the funds distributed to the
agencies and to determine if the agencies used the funds
in accordance with the intent of the program.
Agencies who are found not to be in compliance will be
required to repay funds distributed and the returned
amount will be re-distributed to the remaining approved
agencies.
Please visit the "Results"
page in two months following the event for a listing of
the results of the fundraising event.
